Thinking out of the box, a better investment for time spent could be negotiating a discount for Discourse admins or Meta members on some selected VPS provider. It could turn out to be much easier to shave 1-2$ of the price than to push resource requirements down. ---

Or people could go buy from OVH if they’re so concerned about cost. OVH has proven itself time and time again to be the #1 bargain-basement cloud server provider. ---

Wow, their 33.49$ plan comes with 8GB RAM and 4 cores 😮. Has anyone been using OVH on the long run - are they reliable? I have been extremely happy with Digital Ocean’s uptime during the last couple of years. ---

Does ovh support docker? I always thought it was openvz. ---

Yes. Now they use KVM and are a “real” cloud based on Openstack. You could try it for as little as 0.009 / hour (1 core 2 GB, 3.5 / month) but they require an upfront deposit of $ 40. ---
