# Does Discourse require 2GB to work "Lag Free"?

Yes. Now they use KVM and are a “real” cloud based on Openstack. You could try it for as little as 0.009 / hour (1 core 2 GB, 3.5 / month) but they require an upfront deposit of $ 40.
