# Does watching a parent category also watch the child subcategories?

Hi there—can someone let me know about watching and sub categories?
My use case:
We have categories and sub categories within them. If someone “watches” a category, does that also mean they are “watching” the sub categories?

Tracking/Watching a category will NOT track/watch its sub-categories.
There are probably topics which belong in [https://meta.discourse.org/c/feature/voting](https://meta.discourse.org/c/feature/voting) to adjust this behavior.
