Email context not being obeyed

(Noah Kantrowitz) #1

On the Chef Discourse we have email posts context set to 0 to try and get a more mailing-list-style email integration. Despite this, we still sometimes see context added to emails. It isn’t every email, so I’m guessing it’s only when someone replies directly to a post instead of a topic-level post or incoming email). Regardless, this setting should probably apply.

can you forward one of these emails to team@discourse.org ?

Sent  (additional characters to fill minimum)

Easy peasy,

This is an “In Reply To” block, it is controlled via the user setting “Include an excerpt of replied to post in emails”

Hmm, how does that interact with the global setting?

(Noah Kantrowitz) #6

Also my user settings had “Include previous replies at the bottom of emails” set to Never, so lots of interacting settings related to this it seems.

There is a separate global setting for the “default” value, but existing accounts need to set it manually. (we can run a batch query to reset on all existing)

They are 2 very different settings. Previous replies is about showing the 5 previous replies, “in reply to” is about telling the user what actual post was replied to.
