# "email total attachment size limit kb" setting: what does it do exactly?

This setting is set to 0 on my forum.

Someone replied to a direct message to me by email and I received attached files:

I guess this setting isn’t related to this. So, what does this setting do?

This works the other way round 👍🏻

The “`email total attachment size limit kb`” setting controls the size of the file attachments on emails sent _from_ your forum.
