# Emoji for each user

One of our forum members suggested generating emoji for each user automatically.

For example: :Username: or maybe :@Username:

to display a users pic as an emoji.

Not all pics work well as emoji, but still an interesting idea.

This would definitely have to be a theme component first, I can see that some communities would like to have a tiny avatar next to mentions like 🍪@Biscuit

I do not think it will be in core any time soon though.

This seemed like a fun idea so I made a theme component that can automatically add an emoji before a mention.

Add a mention and emoji in the settings:

and then you’ll get:

It’s very basic at the moment, if anyone wants to improve upon it please do.

Not exactly what you were looking for @Biscuit, but something like this could be expanded upon to append/replace a mention with an image.
