# Emoji shortcuts don’t work well with other stuff

I wanted to post an emoji using `;), :), :O etc.` but if I put anything, other than a space after those types of emojis, they result in something like this, `;).` Not 😉 (With the period after it). Can anyone reproduce this issue? Thanks

Edit:  
I noticed doing this using the :[some emoji here]: with other characters work, but the easier `;)` way doesn’t work. BTW is anyone out there?

This is by design, we have to be very strict here otherwise it is too easy to get false positives.
