Some like organizing topics by categories(no tags or minimal). Some like using Tags as a primary method to organize topics with minimal categories. And others do a my hybrid

A category that has topics arranged by tags. Makes sense for ppl to vote on topic tags vs category topics. This will of course be dependent of the host’s intended used.

With keeping potentially bloat down in a plugin. Maybe fork could be made to have a category support topic voting by tags?

If you consider someone making a Reddit like clone. The Category is a sub forum with Tags being used vs subcategories to make things easier for the end user.

A basic example

Category Movies
Tags

- SciFi
- Comedy
- Drama
Etc..

Each tag might be a topic Tag to vote on individually. Ie best SciFi movie votes. Each tag topic category can be voted on for that genre.

One caveats I can see is likely would need if voting Topics within a tag. Likely need to restrict topics to one tag… With maybe an exception for forums using tags for languages?
