# "Enable quote reply for highlighted text" user setting

When the setting should to reduce the noise for users who select text while reading, it no longer helps.

The [share button](https://meta.discourse.org/t/change-share-quote-visibility-default-from-anonymous-to-all/280462/6) was added for logged-in users. The AI plugin adds an “ask AI” button. The [design experiment](https://meta.discourse.org/t/post-quote-copy-to-clipboard-button-feedback/285376) adds a copy button. On posts that you are able to edit, there is an edit button.  
So, if you disable the quote button, only one of the buttons disappears.

I think it should be possible to either disable all the buttons or none.
