# Auswahl der Unterkategorie erzwingen?

Is there a way to enforce users to choose a **subcategory** rather than a top-level category?

_Use case_: Users should not be able to choose category _Gallery_, but only one of _Photo gallery_ or _Video gallery_.

- Category _Gallery_
  - Subcategory _Photo gallery_
  - Subcategory _Video gallery_

You can simply remove permission to post new topics in category _Gallery_. So the user have to choose only sub-category.
