enter key doesn't work for new line break for more than 1 line?

(Bieber Jang) #1

I just installed and started using discourse.

I posted first topic and found out that the enter key cannot make more than 1 line break.
no matter how many times I press enter key, it ignores more than 1 line break.

How can I make it accept all the enter keys I press for new lines???

You can’t. If you need to separate text content, try using a horizontal rule. eg?
<hr>

and more content here.
and more etc. Or try code fencing

```text
text followed by three empty lines
more text
```

text followed by three empty lines

more text

cannot make more than 1 line break?

How the normal users supposed to know

tag or code fencing stuff?
They will just hit enter key like 2 times to make more space between paragraphs…

omg… no way to make the system recognize multiple enter keys???

(Mittineague) #4

My question is why would they need to? Uneccessary empty newlines are errmm, uneccessary.

(Bieber Jang) #5

so no other way to make it as default setting?

(Mittineague) #6

Again, why the need for this? Unless you can make a strong argument for such a setting to exist I can’t see it happening in Core code. Though if you really want it for no good reason you could write / get a plugin to do it.

EDIT
I’ve been thinking of why you may be wanting this and the only reason I can think of is you’re wanting something like:

Question, scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll, answer.

IMHO, that would be a bit inconsiderate and obnoxious.

Perhaps
