My discourse can’t search when No login, search have result when only login
How setting wrong?
A user, thaidb, reported that their Discourse instance fails to return search results when not logged in, but works fine when logged in. Moin asked whether logged-out users can access topics via direct links and suggested checking category permissions for ‘everyone’. thaidb confirmed the issue began after installing the Discourse Private Replies plugin, and that disabling it restored public search functionality. RGJ noted that topics set to private replies are inherently unsearchable by unauthorized users. thaidb shared screenshots showing plugin settings and search behavior under public vs. private reply modes. RGJ acknowledged the bug and confirmed a fix has been pushed — users are advised to update and rebuild their instance. The issue was specifically tied to the Private Replies plugin interfering with public search access, not general permissions or configuration errors.

Does it work to read a topic from your search results when you are logged out? So when you copy the link from your search results to the browser where you are not logged in, does that work?
Is ‘everyone’ allowed to ‘see’ the categories of the search results?
No,
I set most categories with View mode, I have this problem when installing plugins Discourse Private Replies, when i disable this plugin, i can search my topic with No login Account
And is that topic set to private replies? Because if it is, you cannot search it if you don’t have access.
I have pushed a fix for the private replies plugin. Please update and rebuild.
Thank you for reporting this bug.
