# Error messages for Silenced user

The error messages a user receives when trying to post while they are silenced are not clear at all, in fact they are confusing. Especially if they haven’t seen the message about being silenced.
I just tried replying to a post as a silenced user and got this:
And when trying to create a new post it says this:
> An error occurred: You are not permitted to view the requested resource.
Perhaps these could be improved?

I agree.
We had something similar happen on our instance where a user was silenced but apparently did not know (or ignored the message).
They then tried to post and “complained” about the messages you describe.
A much clearer message, possibly stating that the user has been silenced, would work to avoid this type of situation.

I agree - we have a long running internal topic with error messaging to improve. I’ll add it there and moved this topic to the `ux` category in the meantime.
