# Exclude posts from category by default globally

I want to have a section on my community where I post random thoughts/notes. Similar to a so called [Digital Garden](https://timrodenbroeker.de/digital-garden/) (Obsidian Publish is used for this same purpose by a lot of users).
Since some notes can be just a link, for example, I don’t want those posts to flood the main feed (the home page) of my community, because sometimes I will be posting 5-6 of those a day.
Can I set a global default that defines that posts from a certain category will not be in the feed, but still allow the user to decide to include them?
> I had to uninstall Discourse a few months ago, but I will install it again sometime next year (wanna plan as much as possible before starting to spend money again for no reason), so at the moment I can’t test what I’m asking here.

You can mute the category by default; there is a site setting for that.

Thank you. I remember seeing something about it and I believe I was able to achieve that, but since I haven’t spent enough time with it, I wasn’t sure.
