# Facebook and Discourse integration

Hey,
I am curious about two things:
One: Would it be possible to automagically post new Facebook Page posts to a forum in Discourse?
Secondly: could replies to the forum ánd the new Faecbook post would be synchronised, so that a FB users can discuss with a Discourse forum member about the post each on their own platform?

Yeah, that shouldn’t be too hard to accomplish by using the Facebook and Discourse APIs. It could easily be made to work the other way around as well, with Discourse posts being automagically posted to Facebook, if you’d rather use Discourse as your primary content outlet.

Two-way sync is incredibly difficult to do right. I’ve seen serious attempts at it before, e.g. [Social for WordPress](https://wordpress.org/plugins/social/), and it just doesn’t pan out well. It’s always prone to data loss/duplication and immensely difficult to maintain.
There’s also nothing inherently wrong about having conversations happening in a few different places as long as there are enough participants to sustain the exchange in each “club house”. Every social network or forum comes with its own norms of participation, so you might as well treat them as different schools of thought that you are eliciting feedback from.

So to refresh an old thread, but this is something I’m wondering about. Is there a way to send posts on Facebook to Discourse, the way the `wp-discourse` plugin sends WP posts to Discourse?

I’m not finding the topic right now, but there was a more recent discussion about this - Facebook’s terms of service prevent a plugin being written on Facebook with the purpose of sending information elsewhere.

저는 정반대로 하려고 합니다. 즉, Discourse 포럼에서 오늘 어떤 일이 있었는지에 대한 요약(Digest)을 매일 Facebook 그룹에 게시하는 것입니다. 이는 Facebook으로 데이터를 게시하는 것이므로 그들의 서비스 약관(TOS)에 위배되지 않아야 하지만, 궁극적인 목표는 사용자의 FB 뉴스피드에서 Discourse로 돌아가는 링크를 제공하는 것입니다.

자동화를 원하신다면 Zapier 같은 서비스를 사용하는 것이 가장 좋은 방법일 것 같습니다. Zapier의 RSS 피드 모니터링 도구를 사용하여 RSS 피드(예: `https://meta.discourse.org/c/feature/2.rss`)로 감시할 새 카테고리를 선택한 후, 새 주제에 대해 Facebook 게시물을 생성하면 됩니다.

감사합니다. 새로운 카테고리 아이디어가 어떻게 작동할지 확실하지 않습니다. 아마도 관리자 Zapier를 통해 Facebook으로 전송되려면 인기 게시글을 해당 카테고리로 수동으로 이동시켜야 할 것 같습니다. 하지만 게시글이 명시적으로 Facebook으로 복사되는 전용 Facebook 카테고리를 만들 수 있다는 잠재력은 있습니다.
더미 사용자를 만들고, 신뢰도를 0으로 고정하며, 로그인하지 않아 Discourse가 매일 дай제스트 요약을 메일로 보내게 하고, Zapier를 사용해 이를 Facebook 그룹에 게시하는 방안을 생각해 보았습니다. 유일한 단점은 더미 계정이 마지막으로 로그인한 이후의 요약이 포함되지만, 그 외에는 제가 원하는 것에 가깝습니다. 즉, 공개적으로 표시되는(신뢰도 0) 인기 게시글의 요약입니다.

이 작업을 위해 태그를 사용할 수 있습니다. 태그 URL 뒤에 `.rss`를 붙여 그 주소를 Zapier에 사용하면 됩니다. 그러면 직원이 주제에 태그를 붙이면 자동으로 목록에 추가됩니다. 이렇게 하면 주제를 특정 카테고리로 이동할 필요가 없습니다.

오, 그 아이디어가 제 계획에 좋은 추가 요소가 될 것 같네요.
제 주요 목표는 페이스북 그룹에서 페이스북 밖의 활발한 토론 포럼(이 표현은 @codinghorror의 용어를 빌려온 것입니다)의 존재를 정기적으로 알리는 것입니다. 이 목표는 다이제스트 메커니즘을 활용해서 달성할 수 있습니다. Zapier를 사용해 지난 24시간 동안 가장 인기 있었던 내용들의 요약을 담은 다이제스트 메일을 페이스북 그룹에 재공유할 수 있기 때문이죠.
또한, 사용자가 게시물을 작성할 때 특정 마법 같은 태그를 붙여 해당 게시물을 페이스북 그룹에 복사해 달라고 _요청_할 수 있는 기능도 추가할 수 있습니다. 그러면 그 태그의 .rss 피드를 활용해 게시물을 페이스북 그룹에 추가할 수 있습니다.
