Generally I find Ask pretty helpful. But today it provided two links to posts which I can’t access. I assume they have been tidied into a category with restricted access - a pity, here, because they looked like they might have been useful.

I asked it, “when a moderator rejects a flag, does the post get unhidden” and it gave me general information about _non-Discourse_ forums. Shouldn’t all the advice be assumed to be about discourse? What is the point of the tool if it isn’t oriented that way?

I often use #ask-discourse, and this is the things that bother me the most. It often makes up links instead of returning real data.

The number of links on meta are finite. I don’t know much about LLMs, but it seems like you should be able to test against a list of actual posts.

If you see bad answers like that, please do click the đź‘Ž button.
That’ll flag them for us so we can see if there is a way to tune things further in the prompt or improve the docs to better surface better answers.

I’ve found it’s a lot more effective than searching through meta for answers—i can toss it a single natural language query (like “How do I make Discourse do [thing]?”) and get an answer made up of summarized bits from the same 3-4 meta searches I would have eventually stumbled upon, but without me having to spend the time to find them. I definitely plan on continuing to use it when I have “how do I” or “is it possible to” kinds of Discourse questions.

I can’t really delete my converstaions. I can flag them, but that’s more of a hassle. Is there a way to let normal users delete their own bot PMs?

Not yet, but I feel like this is a request for general “Discourse AI”, ChatGPT has a much nicer option which we should emulate:

I was wrong before when I said those messages don’t apply on ask.discourse— they still do because it is powered by Discourse. You are being hit by the normal spam rate limiting.

Usually the “too similar” message only happens when the post you’re trying to make is identical to an earlier post… I also notice that you submitted two identical flags, which might have been the cause of the “creating topics too quickly” error… perhaps some messages were attempting to send twice in rapid succession due to a flaky internet connection? this could potentially explain both issues

Is there any way to tell the model that queries for the DataExplorer should never end with a `;`. I know it seems like a small thing, but when I have to go through several iterations I’m constantly forgetting to remove it.

The Ask Discourse website feedback involves some links that are useless on this site.
`All Questions` brings you to /my/messages, which has no use unless messaging a staff member.
The “topics”, “my posts”, “categories”, “my messages”, and “filter” do not serve any use on the site either, as the Ask Discourse site is mainly for Discourse AI chat and not for making topics. Those pages are empty for 99% of people and should redirect back to the AI bot if you are a normal member. Otherwise, the website functions well for asking an AI questions.
The solution is to hide them from the sidebar, only showing the “AI bot” sidebar if possible, and a “back to AI bot” button.

ask.discourse deliberately defaults to [https://ask.discourse.com/discourse-ai/ai-bot/conversations?agent=discourse-helper](https://ask.discourse.com/discourse-ai/ai-bot/conversations?agent=discourse-helper) which hides everything except the conversations. How are you accessing it?

It’s oddly easy, let me show you through screen recording.
There are a couple ways to access it, as the sidebar isn’t always defaulting to the AI bot one especially in user settings. Clicking all questions, fonts and appearance, or account settings uses a different sidebar than the intended one, that lets you access the unused topics section or unused screens
Note to get back to the ai chat, you click AI bot or the logo.
