# Forcing encrypted personal messages

Hello, I would like to force all personal messages on my platform to be encrypted. I came across the encrypt plugin, but it only works if the recipient also has encrypted messaging enabled. Is there a way to configure this plugin such that people can only send and receive encrypted personal messages and nothing else (Except messages from staff members).?

I believe it’s not possible at this moment although someone has asked for this during plugin development.

> Yes this is fine as an option. Basically would disallow PM to users that don’t have encryption enabled (but still allow admins to PM them unconditionally). We would need to think this through, but I don’t want to add this to the scope of the spec quite yet.
