Get email notification even I post

(Jared Needell) #1

Is it possible for the poster to get an email notification even if he posted?

The reason would be that I can comment/update a topic without having to go to the Discourse site to post a comment.

Sure enable “mailing list mode” in your user prefs. Then you will be notified of every single post on every topic, including your own.

can this be globally enabled?

So I found the setting

Does this mean that every category I can see even if I am not subscribed I’ll get emailed on?

Yes, though I’m not sure you can unsubscribe from various categories/topics using that.

To the best of my knowledge, You’d want to Watch your categories to have that kind of control, or if you wanted to get any context in the emails.

So the mailing list mode ignores if you are subscribed or “watching” a category. I just want to get an email on a category I’m subscribed to even if I am the poster. Not an email on every new post even to categories I’m not watching.

There is no user setting for “echo all my posts” if I am watching a category
