# Global nickname registration

I signed up for meta before I read the part of the FAQ that says:

> …  
> For now, sign up on meta and that will globally reserve your nickname  
> for later use.

I would like to do this but I’ve already chosen another nickname, not knowing how permanent it was going to be. Since this and my email are now connected to each other and there is no setting to change them, how can I choose another nickname for the _Preliminary Global Nickname Registration_?

Change your email on @Maomao to a secondary email and re-register with the correct address.

Certain email providers, including gmail, also support address tags in emails, so both [example@gmail.com](mailto:example@gmail.com) and [example+old@gmail.com](mailto:example+old@gmail.com) route to the same inbox. See [Email address - Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Email_address#Address_tags) So you might not have to create a new email account.
