Discourse instances enforce a character limit, but this is only presented the user when they actually try to create a post: ![53](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/meta/original/3X/1/b/1b0228de6e7b816ae7b5de740f769487899d7c2b.png) It would be nice if a warning came up earlier (for example, there’s a live preview that would be a good place to put this information) so that users aren’t caught by surprise right when they try to post their comment. ---

I like the idea. I do have to ask, though - what was being posted with over 400 thousand characters? That’s a humongous post! ---
