Google AdSense plugin

(Khoa Nguyen) #102

Nah. I’m using responsive ads code for all the ad blocks. Work fine.

(Alex Harrington) #103

Unfortunately it seems something in the latest 1.3.0-beta8 breaks this plugin. See:

At this moment the Adsense plugin supports Discourse v1.2.

We will make it v1.3 compatible in the next weeks.

I do think we all need to find a better way of checking plugin compatibility and/or means to check out certain branches or tags when installing a plugin…

(Amit Friedmann) #105

Hi guys,
Joining late to the conversation… I am the owner of http://ozim.co.il and we use the AdSense plugin through DFP (as we also serve direct paid campaigns).
We mainly use the plugin for the topic list top ad in desktop and mobile, but we wanted to be more flexible, and so using some customised JS code, we inserted another two ad slots between the topics - desktop only for now (inside the first 30 topics) and in the topic page, we created the ad slot underneath the title for more visibility.

Can say without any doubt that the plugin works great, and I am really happy with it.

Cheers
Amit

@michaeld When it comes for 1.3 ?

#108

It’ll be nice when this is available for 1.3, but for right now people can hack their CSS header and insert a Google ad.

(Michael - DiscourseHosting.com) #109

It comes for 1.3 a few days after 1.3 stable is available.

No, you can’t.

#110

Sure you can! I have a community that has this implimented no problem.

(Michael - DiscourseHosting.com) #111

Well, in that case please share the code :smile:

#112

No problem

<!DOCTYPE html>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<script async src="//pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js"></script>
<!-- First Ad Test -->
<ins class="adsbygoogle"
     style="display:inline-block;width:728px;height:90px"
     data-ad-client="ca-pub-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"
     data-ad-slot="xxxxxxxxxxxxxx"></ins>
<script>
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
</script>
</div>
<style>IMG.displayed {
    display: block;
    margin-left: auto;
    margin-right: auto }
    </style>
<IMG class="displayed" src="/uploads/default/1553/3c7fb0859045e81d.jpg" width="1420" height="150" align="center" alt="forest pic">

A pic is added at the bottom to help with flow.

(Michael - DiscourseHosting.com) #113

That’s not CSS :smile:
But this won’t work properly, the ads will not refresh when you navigate to a new page. That’s why we made a plugin…

#114

Meh, it’s in the html/css section. I’ve had to learn some html/css/php all at once over the last couple of months. Kinda all blurring into one about now… Yea I’m certain your plugin is a superior route, but it does a decent job. A small community is still pulling in some funds from this. I’m sure we’re all waiting for your plugin within the week.

:+1:

(Michael - DiscourseHosting.com) #115

Ok, 1.3 compatible version is available in the repo.
It uses @neil’s plugin outlet code and is now in es6 as well.

Have fun :smile:

(Sam Saffron) #116

thanks, wikid the OP put a note there about the versions/version it works against

(Alex Harrington) #118

Up and running on 1.3.1 - thanks for the update :slight_smile:

(Navjot Singh) #126

Is anyone facing an issue with this plugin on Discourse 1.4? I can’t seem to save any value be it the adsense id or the ad slot code.

(Bogdan Sturza) #127

does it work with discourse 1.4?
i’ve managed to setup correctly, but it does not show any ads. how much content do you need to have? number of topics etc?

#128

Can you please share the link to your site, i’d like to see how adsense look like…

(Bogdan Sturza) #129

adsense was not showing because it was not enough content. will come back here if i have any more problems
