# Google Analytics configuration error?

Is it a basic configuration error to place the same Google tracking code ID in both these fields?
- ga universal tracking code
- ga universal auto link domains
If so, is one of these fields the correct field to place the tracking code ID into?

Yes. The Google tracking code should be added to the `ga universal tracking code` site setting.
The `ga universal auto link domains` site setting is intended to be a list of domains. It is used for cross-domain tracking. This setting can be left empty. See [[UA] Set up cross-domain measurement (analytics.js) [Legacy] - Analytics Help](https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1034342) for details about what the setting is used for.
