# Hide custom user fields?

Following up on my earlier question about [DOB entry in a userfield for US social media law compliance](https://meta.discourse.org/t/automatically-group-users-on-registration-and-suspend-one-group/396426/5), is it possible to hide a custom user field from moderators but not admin, [the way it’s possible to hide email and IP](https://meta.discourse.org/t/automatically-group-users-on-registration-and-suspend-one-group/396426/5)? Collecting DOB for US law compliance and then exposing it freely to mods seems like it would be out of compliance with GDPR (and some US state laws).
I found this unmaintained and possibly broken theme component but nothing else that looked like it would hide user fields: [Hidden User Fields](https://meta.discourse.org/t/hidden-user-fields/388397)

It most likely would have to be done via plugin. Probably something to bundle into your other idea of having an age verification plugin in general.
