Hint for registering app with twitter Twitter should list http://apps.twitter.com (instead of https://dev.twitter.com)

The website at https://dev.twitter.com is very confusing for someone who does just want to register an app with Twitter instead of implementig OAuth himself. For the latter it’s great

So you are proposing a change to the Twitter how to for auth.

I looked at this a bit, and while apps.twitter.com is certainly the right spot once you’re logged in, it’s a complete ghost town until you’ve created an app.

Maybe better to just point to the how-to?

No I suggest to change the explanation for the checkbox to activate Twitter authentication. It resides in the translation files config/locales/server.xx_XX.yml. The How To directs the user correctly to apps.twitter.com.

These?

twitter_consumer_key: "Consumer key for Twitter authentication, registered at http://dev.twitter.com"
twitter_consumer_secret: "Consumer secret for Twitter authentication, registered at http://dev.twitter.com"

Isn’t that the correct place to get the key and secret?

I think the confusion here is the category is login but you’re talking app.

Yes, these are the translation keys I meant. As explained in the HowTo, you should go to https://apps.twitter.com to get the key and secret.

Sorry if I chose the wrong category.
