Hoping Discourse shows up on ForumCon 2014 to contrast to Moot

#1

I sure hope Jeff or other technical representative of Discouse shows up at this year’s ForumCon! Seems like there is another new kid on the forum block: Moot! I sure would love to have a session where the new technologies are compared and contrasted!

Moot looks pretty slick. I’d love to see a compare/contrast, too.

Here’s a somewhat dated comparison.

Couple main differences off the top of my head

  • Not open source

  • Allows full embedding, like Disqus (and unlike Discourse)

  • Does not allow self hosting

Thanks Jeff. I’m not seeing anything about an emailable digest in Moot. This is a key requirement for me. Disqus doesn’t support that either (nor access to posted content altogether as far as I can tell). So Discourse still looks like the leading candidate for me

I trust you guys are taking a close look at Moot and stealing all that you can use

I like Moot but I think it is a bit too much like Google Wave in approach, e.g. too radically different and thus hard to understand.

I struggle to read a long Moot topic, I can’t tell what is happening when I click those big numbers with the arrows on the top and bottom.
