It looks to me like [communiteq.com](https://www.communiteq.com/discoursehosting/pricing/) is $20/month. Isn’t [DigitalOcean](https://www.digitalocean.com/pricing) much cheaper at $4/month + email? Am I missing something?

They are not comparable services: Communiteq offers a managed Discourse hosting with continuous support and upgrades, while on DigitalOcean you need to set things up and manage the server all by yourself.

You’ll need at least a $6/month droplet plus mailgun (which isn’t much for a small community). And having someone else manage things is useful for many people.
