# How are the badges sorted within a category?

How are the badges sorted within a category on [https://discourse.example.com/badges](https://discourse.example.com/badges)?
It seems that each category is first sorted by Bronze/Silver/Gold, and then maybe alphabetically? Can someone confirm?
Is there any way to change the sorting order?

This is almost correct - they’re first sorted by badge group (“Getting Started”, “Community”, “Posting”, “Trust Level”).
Currently, the only facility to change the sort order is to add more groupings.

@riking This is not the case though for user cards, right? Any advice on ordering those?

I believe that’s ordered by decreasing order of how many other people have the badge. (Decreasing “rarity”)
