# How can I link to the preferences page in a topic?

I am in the process of streamlining the onboarding for new invited users. We use a csv file to invite 90+ users. After they click on the link in the mail they go immediately to a topic in a closed group where we can give some more information. In this topic I want to direct them to their user preferences. Unfortunately, the permalink to this page is {site\_url}/users/{username}/preferences.
Would it be possible to link to something like {site\_url}/preferences or {site\_url}/user/preferences and when you’re logged in, you will go to your user preferences? That way I could make a relative URL in the topic post and have new users link to their own preferences page.
