I’ve used flarum for a few years and always avoided discourse given it wasn’t as simple a setup, however I’m running discourse on a arm64 free tier oracle instance via docker, and it’s surprising very responsive.

With that said discourse and flarum are both forum software but in my personal opinion discourse appears to be more of a community software while flarum a resource center. Meaning, I can create a social network style site with discourse and with flarum I can have a help desk (document or support system).

My only miss between discourse and flarum at current is the flarum sidebar menu that allows loading up posts/topics from previous page without navigating back directly. It provided an ease to jump to related or other topics. However on a large community I’m not sure if it’s a plus.

In closing I respect the work flarum has done and I will continue to follow it but I’m very satisfied with discourse platform, it shall help my countries small tech community connect and collab.

Thank you Discourse Team
