# How do I display the subcategories inside of the parent by default?

If you look at this community, it has some top level categories such as “how-to”, which have child categories such as “faq” or “admin”. How can I make it like it is here that if I go into “how-to”, it will display cards with the available subcategories (see screenshot)? I’ve been looking for a setting for this but could not find anything. Does it require a plug in or something like that?

Welcome to Meta @pkundr 👋

You don’t need a plugin for this. It’s a built-in feature in Discourse.

Head to the category page, then click on the edit button here

then select the settings tab, scroll down and toggle this setting

You can also control how the subcategories on that page are displayed via the setting right under that (Subcategory List Style)
