# How do I remove silences from flags?

There are some site settings that control the auto-silencing behavior based on flags:

- `num_users_to_silence_new_user` - this is the number of unique flags it takes to silence a new tl0 user, set to 0 to disable

- `silence_new_user_sensitivity` - this is how likely a new user is to be silenced based on spam flags, you can disable this

- `notify_mods_when_user_silenced` - this will message moderators when a user is silenced, so it can make it easier to catch and unsilence someone if needed
