# How do the Category Experts endorsements work?

Hi, by endorsing do you mean clicking on the thumbup icon? Or will the ❤ icon in the Discourse reactions be considered as an endorsement ? This point is not clear to me. Thanks.

No. In order to endorse someone you have to specifically set them up as an expert. It isn’t an organic process.

Ok I got it now, you have to go to their profile and click on the Approve button. Would it be a [good idea](https://meta.discourse.org/t/endorsing-experts-the-easy-way/309462) to have this button under each post in the categories where you can endorse? This way, the endorse capability would be more visible to users? (edited, link to feature request added)
