# How do you assign a badge automatically as soon as someone is added to a group?

The #automation plugin can add users to a group when a badge is assigned ([read more](https://meta.discourse.org/t/user-group-membership-management-through-badges/281836)). But that’s the opposite of what you are asking for. I think you would have to create a [custom badge query](https://meta.discourse.org/t/creating-triggered-custom-badge-queries/19336)
