How do you setup a Redis server?

Hey!

I have two small servers. One that runs docker/ruby on rails and the other that runs db’s. I can get postgres running fine, but the biggest problem is that I cant get redis to allow external connections from the docker server. My installation always fails there. Are there any tutorials or tips you can give me to help me through?

Thanks.

Are you allowing the port redis runs on to be accessed from other devices? On cloud providers (aws, gcloud) you may have to create firewall rules allowing the port redis runs on to be connectable. You may also have to modify the redis config to not bind to 127.0.0.1 or localhost, and instead bind to an internal IP.

Give this a readover first (and be sure you configure good firewall rules!):
http://redis.io/topics/security

Then modify the config file to bind to your hostname, and open the port for access.
