# How does discourse count users?

Actually, I have some more follow ups after poking around a bit more:
Is it fair to say that total users (provided in site statistics) = all new + basic + member + regular + leader? I’m looking at all ‘users’ to date.
Also, what is the definition of an ‘active user’ then?
