# 编译 Discourse Docker 镜像的分支需要多长时间？

Since non-docker installs are not supported and apparently difficult to install, I’m wondering how long does it take to compile a fork of your docker image? Is it possible to re-use the discourse/base build and to swap in discourse/discourse? I ask because I might want to experiment with making changes to a future instance of discourse.

That depends on how fast your computer is. 😉

We build the [discourse/base image](https://hub.docker.com/r/discourse/base/) on an Optimized Droplet (8 GB, 4 vCPUs) at DigitalOcean and it takes about 40 minutes.
