# Discourse は古い Microsoft Edge をどの程度サポートしますか？

知人の一人から質問があります。
来年1月15日にMicrosoftがChromiumベースのEdgeをリリースした後、Discourseは旧Microsoft Edgeをどのくらいサポートし続けるのでしょうか？ブラウザサポートのロードマップはありますか？
この質問があまりに漠然としすぎていることを願っています。

「標準」の 6 週間リリースサイクルに従うようです。
IE11 と同時に廃止するのはどうでしょうか。その時点では 4 リリース分経過しているはずです。

実際にはそのようなものは存在しません。
私たちが通常回答するのは、「主要な4つのブラウザ（IE、Chrome、Firefox、Safari）の最新バージョンをサポートしています」というものです。IEのように主要ブラウザが突然消滅することは通常ないため、これは新しい状況です。

ここでのユースケースは何ですか？ユーザーの大多数は最新バージョンのブラウザを使用しており、例えば Chrome の正確なバージョンを気にする必要はありません。ブラウザのサポートを終了する場合（IE に対して行っているように）、その旨は発表されます。

ブラウザの利用状況に関する実際の数値を教えていただけますか？例えば、企業ではブラウザを数バージョン前のまま維持している場合もあります。私は仕事でDiscourseを利用することがありますが、それが一般的かどうかはわかりません。「大多数」という表現が、80%に近いのか、98%に近いのか、少し気になりました。🙂

ただし、グローバルな統計は簡単に見つけることができます。例えば、[StatCounter](https://gs.statcounter.com/) や [CanIUse](https://caniuse.com/usage-table) をチェックしてみてください。CanIUse によると、Internet Explorer の使用率はわずか 2% 程度です。Chrome は、デスクトップと Android を合わせて 50% 以上を占めています。

そのことは承知しています。サポート終了の時期が近づいたら、以前に IE11 の問題について当社に報告したお客様には通知いたします。また、サポートを終了しても、Discourse がそれらのブラウザで動作しなくなるわけではありません。単に、そのブラウザに固有のバグをすべて修正しないという意味です。

また、10 月時点で Microsoft Edge の市場シェアは Internet Explorer と同等であることに触れておく価値があります。数ヶ月後に Chromium ベースのバージョンがリリースされれば、Microsoft Edge の市場シェアが大幅に伸びると想定されます。その結果、古い Microsoft Edge と Internet Explorer のサポートを同時に終了させるのは理にかなっていると言えます。
