# How many people are watching or tracking a topic?

I’d be interested to know how many people watch or track a specific topic, but I can’t seem to find that information in the UI. Is there a way to get this data, maybe through a JSON request?

I don’t think we’re exposing this information. If you want that information available via JSON, you’ll have to write a plugin.

Thanks for your quick answers guys! I can’t use the [Data Explorer](https://meta.discourse.org/t/32566?silent=true) as we’re hosted with [Communiteq](https://www.communiteq.com) (formerly DiscourseHosting), so I was hoping for a built-in solution 😉

Wait… why does that stop you from using that plugin? Or is it that [Communiteq](https://www.communiteq.com) (formerly DiscourseHosting) doesn’t provide that plugin as of yet?

Correct, it’s not in the standard hosting package.
