# 如何添加父级分类？

I can see the stock parent categories as admin and could not figure out how to add more parent categories to my website.

If you visit your categories page ([community.example.com/categories](http://community.example.com/categories)) there’s a new category button in the menu on the right

Hello Kris, Thanks a ton.

I got it.

I did that and when I do so, it shows box called “category Name” and then asks us to select from a dropdown in parent category. Went ahead and made the new category and selected uncategorised in dropdown. it formed a “new” parent category

Try leaving the parent category setting blank.

创建新类别时，请将“父类别”保留为默认值 `(无类别)`。这将创建一个新的顶级父类别。  
如果您像上述发帖者那样将其更改为“未分类”，则会在“未分类”父类别下创建一个 **子类别** 。

“安全”设置必须为访问新类别指定一个用户组，默认为 `everyone`。您可以更改设置，以控制谁可以访问（查看、回复、创建（在类别内发布新主题））。

如果您不慎将新类别创建为某个父类别的 **子类别** ，而该父类别中 `everyone` 组没有 `查看、回复、创建` 的权限，您可以返回其设置进行修正：将 `父类别` 更改为 `(无类别)`，并检查用户组设置——`everyone` 被视为一个组。请确保他们拥有您所需的任何权限。
