Move your Discourse Instance to a Different Server

In this guide we’ll move an existing Discourse instance on Linode (source) to a new Discourse instance on Digital Ocean (destination), but of course these steps will work on any other cloud providers that support Docker. What you want to avoid is restoring a newer backup on an older version (the same goes for the Postgres version).
