# How to backup and restore a whole /var/discourse app folder?

That doesn’t move the whole `/var/discourse` folder. I am aware of these instructions these [don’t](https://meta.discourse.org/t/restore-problem-relation-theme-fields-does-not-exist/95500) work for me. Therefore I wanted a more “complete” 1to1 “hardcopy” way to backup.
