How to change Daily limit on new topics

(ampburner) #1

Continuing the discussion from What do user trust levels do?:

My users (basic) cannot post more than X new topics - they are getting the following message:

We have a daily limit on how many times that action can be taken. Please wait 22 hours before trying again.

Is there a way I can change these thresholds? (max number of topics they are allowed to create per day)?
I can’t find the setting for that.

Also what are the default thresholds? this is something that could be added to the original topic (documentation)

They’re too restrictive for my needs.

I’d like to know myself. It’s really infuriating. Shame, Discourse was looking like real good forum software too… :frowning:

don’t sweat it @dev221117 - it’s just a setting.

I believe you are refering to max topics per day; in the rate limits section. By default, this is set to 20 in one day.

Ah! thanks, that is set to 20 on my install, which I think is a more than reasonable default.
I think the culprit here is ‘max topics in first day’ which is set to 5.

Not a bad default for most scenarios either, but we are starting up a discourse forum from scratch and I want our users to be able to get the ball rolling. I’ll temporarilly raise the setting so we can get some more content.

thanks @trident!
