How to create "please register to see the link"?

#1

I want something like this : [Please register to see the link] inside a topic in the forum when viewed using guest view.Possible?

@hashOK are you looking for a Call to Action?

@watchmanmonitor, I don’t think that is what @hashOK is looking for. On some other forums, access to download any and all uploads are blocked from non-registered viewers. Instead, the link is replaced with Please register to see the link, which of course links to the sign-up page. Similar to a call-to-action, but it also blocks uploads from being downloaded.

Same here.

To upload you need to make a post.
To make a post you need to be logged in.
To log in you need to be registered.

If you click Reply while not logged in, the sign-up / log-in modal displays.

I’m sorry, I wasn’t clear. That should say “access to download any and all uploads are blocked”. I’ve gone ahead and edited the post. Let me try and find a screenshot from another forum.

Edit: Example (big difference is that downloads aren’t inline, but at bottom of posts)

Hmmm, there is a Setting.

prevent anons from downloading files [] (default - not checked)
Prevent anonymous users from downloading attachments. WARNING: this will prevent any non-image site assets posted as attachments from working.

Well there we go! Thanks @Mittineague.

I just tested it on my localhost.
(I needed to upload an attached file first to test it)

The attachment link still displays for anons, but clicking gives

Off-topic perhaps, but I’m wondering just what “non-image site assets” might even be.
