# How to create subcategories in a bulk operation?

Hi,
We have recently started implementing Discourse for our users, and we currently have over 100+ subcategories to be created to get our forums ready.
Is it possible to create these subcategories in a bulk operation, as it would reduce our workload instead of creating them individually?

It’s not recommended to have that many categories; have you considered using tags instead?

We do plan on using tags, but for a different purpose.
As we are an ed-tech company, we wanted to have subcategories for each university, and allow topics within them.
