# How to retrieve backup without functioning email

Hi,  
My smtp server is under maintenance and i want to restore but i feel it is getting because of email notification is failing. Is there any other alter way to restore without notification.

You can transfer the file directly from the server using rsync/scp.

It’s in

```
 /var/discourse/shared/standalone/backups/default

```
