# How to Set a Featured Topic?

This feels like a dumb question, but I can’t find an option in either wrench menu in a topic (below the post or to the upper right) to **set the topic as featured** for the sake of the sub-category list style (rows or boxes with featured topics) on the category appearance settings.

It’s not the “pinned” setting, I hope?

I’m not asking about setting a featured topic in my profile.

Featured is simply referring to the top 3 (excluding pinned) topics in that category.  
Here is an example from our community. Notice how the About topic is not visible in the Idea Discussion’s featured topics. Unless About topics are special and automatically excluded. Someone else will have to comment on that.

The alternative Box style, without Featured Topics, inserts those category boxes and pulls in the category description within.
