# How to sort latest posts by creation date

I’ve seen this question on here a few times with no real solution except for adding /latest?order=created to the url. How can I make it so my discourse lists posts by their creation date _permanently_ - like as a setting? I can’t seem to find it anywhere. I’ve seen other discourse sites do it, so I know it’s possible somehow.

You can set the sort order within individual categories using the “Topic List Sort By” option in the category’s settings:

I don’t know of a way to do it on the /latest page.

Is there a way to get that setting after the category has already been created? I can only find it if I make a new category.

At the top-right of any category page you should see these buttons:

The spanner/wrench icon will take you to the category settings.
