# How to stop users from editing topic titles?

I can’t find such a setting. I don’t want non-admins to be able to edit the titles of topics they didn’t create.

By default, normal users can’t edit the titles of topics created by other people. If they can, you will have edited settings to allow it.

I’d check

- `edit_all_topic_groups` — “Allow users in this group to edit other users’ topic titles, tags, and categories”
- `edit_all_post_groups` — “Allow users in this group to edit other users’ posts”

I was under the impression that TL3 and above do have the ability to edit topic titles?

Or can the setting be turned off for this?

edit\_all\_topic\_groups is set to admins, but a non-admin just changed the name of a topic he did not create.

Apologies, you’re correct. TL3 and above can edit titles. You can change the TL settings if that is the issue. @rlauriston what TL is the user that made the edit?
