# How was the colour for my computer-generated avatar decided?

I use another discourse forum and recently they upgraded to the new avatar system. I noticed that the background colour of my avatar was same as here on meta.discourse. I was wondering what user properties are these colours a function of.

It’s based on your username. So if you use the same username on multiple forums you’ll have the same generated avatar 😉
