# Http3 support?

As it turns out, OpenSSL 3.5 is slated to be released in April [with QUIC server support](https://openssl-library.org/post/2025-02-12-openssl-3.5-go-nogo/). There is also [a demo of an HTTP3 server](https://github.com/openssl/openssl/tree/master/demos/http3) that uses the OpenSSL QUIC API with [nghttp3](https://nghttp2.org/nghttp3/).

(Since the issue of governance was raised in that link, I should point out that OpenSSL adopted [a new governance structure last year](https://openssl-library.org/post/2024-07-24-openssl-new-governance-structure/). I’m [cautiously optimistic](https://jlericson.com/2025/01/20/conway_judo.html) and I do think it helped get QUIC out the door at last.)

It appears [nginx will adopt OpenSSL’s QUIC API](https://github.com/nginx/nginx/issues/537). No indication of the timeline yet, however.
